A tunnel tent provides plenty of space due to its construction - up to 12 people can be comfortably accommodated in our tunnel tents. A true space miracle just waiting to be discovered!
Setting up tunnel tents is easy and can be done by two people in just a few steps. Using the Montana 8 as an example, we show you how it's done and what you need to bear in mind when pitching the tent. The setup video also applies to all other tunnel tents such as the Nordland, Hurricane or Milano, which have steel poles on the sides.
A quick and easy set-up means you can start your holiday and time out from everyday life straight away. Tent poles - at least two, depending on the size of the tunnel tent - are fixed parallel to each other in arches over the tent. Because there are no cross poles, however, the tent definitely needs good guy ropes. It is therefore not a free-standing tent like a dome tent.
To ensure stability, the tent should definitely be pegged down lengthwise and crosswise. You should therefore calculate roughly twice the space of the tent. Once this is done, the tunnel tent offers an incredible amount of space and great respite from everyday life.
Even if the weight and pack size of the larger tunnel tents are quite large compared to other tents - the enormous space advantage due to their almost vertical walls is a great advantage.
A little tip: The tent should always be pitched with the narrower side facing the wind. This ensures wind stability and gives the wind less surface to attack.
Because this style of tent resembles a tunnel, the walls are steeply sloping. This means that little space is lost here, and the entire footprint of the tent is fully utilised. You can easily stand up in almost the entire tent, which makes it a very comfortable holiday companion. The headroom in tunnel tents is fully utilised, making a tunnel tent ideal for longer stays.
With our larger tunnel tents, the rooms can be divided as required. For example, the different areas can be used as bedrooms or common rooms, or as storage space for equipment and food - just like in a small flat. Thus, tunnel tents also offer retreat options for a little more privacy.
Some of our tunnel tents offer additional storage space outside the living and sleeping area of the tent - under the flysheet thanks to a large porch. This storage option saves a lot of space inside the tent, making the "living area" look immediately larger and providing more room.
Due to the different sizes of tunnel tents, this tent shape is ideal for a family holiday or a trip with friends. In addition, our tunnel tents can be easily extended with awnings. This way the tent entrance is protected and even in bad weather the tent allows you to sit outside.
Our tunnel tents are also available as van awnings or car tents, which can also be pitched without a vehicle. This means that shopping can be done quickly during the holiday without having to dismantle everything beforehand. Nothing prevents you from going on a nice excursion into the surrounding area! All that needs to be done is to separate the tunnel tent from the car and then close it.
So, it's no wonder that this tent style is becoming more and more popular in addition to the dome tent. It provides an enormous amount of space and because it is so easy to pitch, your camping adventure can begin in no time at all.
