Why do I need a sleeping mat in the tent?

A camping mat fulfils two different purposes: firstly, it protects you from the cold ground and secondly, it ensures that you lie comfortably while camping and have a good night's sleep.

How do I store my sleeping mat?

As with a sleeping bag, store the sleeping mat or air mattress in a dry and not too cold place. Otherwise the material could be permanently damaged. Make sure that the sleeping pad is dry and clean before storage. Then pack it in the supplied packing bag for storage. Also protect it from prolonged exposure to sunlight during storage to protect the material.

Which is more important: sleeping mat or sleeping bag?

Both the sleeping bag and the sleeping mat fulfil important functions when camping. They are therefore both equally important for a comfortable night's sleep in the tent. Where the sleeping pad protects you from the cold ground - i.e. keeps the cold away from you - the sleeping bag ensures that your body heat is retained so that you stay nice and warm.

How do I find a hole in my inflatable sleeping pad?

To do this, fill the air mattress completely with air and slowly run your hands over the mattress. If you can't feel the air escaping, a little water will help you to find the hole. For example, run a damp cloth over the mattress. Small bubbles will form where the hole is. You can often also hear the air escaping. You can repair the hole with the enclosed repair kit.

Which sleeping pad in winter?

In winter, you can place a foam sleeping mat under your air mattress. This will give you additional protection from the cold ground, as the extra layer insulates even more and you are further away from the ground.

Small pack size

The sleeping mat from the Skandika Air range can be compressed to just 29 x Ø 13 cm and is super light at a weight of 1 kg. This means that the mat even fits into a small trekking rucksack or bike pannier.

Easy inflation and deflation

The camping mattress's powerful valve allows it to be inflated in just a few breaths, while the retention function prevents unwanted air from escaping. Deflating is even quicker with the deflation valve.
