Choosing the right sleeping pad is crucial for a good night's sleep. An outdoor mattress consisting of a foam filling and air chambers insulates and protects against the cold and rough ground. One thing to note is that self-inflating air mattresses have a significantly larger pack size and therefore require more storage space in the car or when stored at home. Also, the heavier weight makes them less suitable for trekking or cycling trips, but rather for camping holidays in one place without having to change the location of the tent much.
