How often should I bake my Dutch Oven?

If the patina is damaged or rust forms after repeated use, you should definitely repeat the baking process. You should also avoid cooking acidic foods at the beginning.

With the Dutch Oven, you really do have incredibly versatile options for preparing food. The Dutch Oven is a true all-rounder for cooking, braising, grilling, roasting, baking and deep-frying. You can put it in the fire, on the barbecue, in the oven or on the hob.

How many briquettes do I need for the Dutch Oven?

There are a few points to consider when choosing the right number of briquettes. In addition to the size or volume of the pot, the type of preparation (boiling, frying, braising, etc.) and consequently the distribution on and under the fire pot also play a role. Environmental influences such as temperature and wind must also be taken into account. It is therefore difficult to make a generalised statement. However, remember that you can always add briquettes to increase the heat; the other way round is more difficult.

How do I clean & care for the Dutch Oven?

Never use washing-up liquid, brushes or steel sponges on cast iron Dutch ovens. These would destroy the patina of the Dutch Oven, which in turn leads to rust. Warm water and a standard brush or sponge are sufficient. A ring cleaner can also be used for stubborn stains. With our Dutch Oven care set, you have everything you need to gently clean your Dutch Oven.

Can I clean the Dutch Oven in the dishwasher?

If the Dutch Oven has an enamel coating, it is dishwasher-safe. This is the case with our BBCrew models. If the Dutch Oven does not have an enamel coating and this is not explicitly stated, simply clean the Dutch Oven with warm water without detergent to preserve the patina.

How do I get burnt-on food out of the Dutch Oven?

You can simply put the Dutch Oven with enamel coating in the dishwasher or soak it with a little washing-up liquid. For cast iron Dutch ovens, we recommend using the ring cleaner for stubborn food residues, which is included in our care set.

How do I measure the temperature in the Dutch Oven?

All our Dutch ovens have a recess in the lid and pot for temperature monitoring. Here you can measure the temperature of your dish using a thermometer.

How do I store the Dutch Oven correctly?

Make sure that the Dutch Oven is completely dry and thoroughly cleaned before storing it. You can also use the carrier bag for storage to protect the Dutch Oven from scratches or dust. Store it in a dry place to prevent it from rusting.

Dutch Oven with or without feet?

That depends on where you want to use your Dutch Oven. In principle, all our Dutch ovens are suitable for (almost) all areas of use. Dutch ovens with feet are particularly suitable for outdoor cooking on briquettes or an open fire, as the embers can be placed safely underneath the pot thanks to the feet. Dutch ovens with feet can also be used on the barbecue or in the kitchen (with the exception of the hob). Dutch ovens without feet offer a secure hold on the grill grate and are ideal for the oven or hob. Nevertheless, they can also be used outside, but are less stable due to the lack of feet.
