The classic: stick bread

Stick bread is the campfire recipe. You can add a customised touch to the stick bread dough with just a few simple steps. Our simple stick bread recipe can be prepared in no time at all.

For 8 breadsticks: (Tip for travelling: prepare the dough at home)

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 sachet of dry yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 240 ml lukewarm water
  • Optional: herb mixture

  1. first mix the flour, dry yeast, salt and sugar in a bowl. Then add the olive oil and water and work everything into a smooth dough - preferably using the dough hook. Optionally, fold in a tasty herb mixture at the end. Cover and leave to rest for at least 30 minutes.
  2. then divide the stick bread dough into 8 pieces and shape them into dough strands. Everyone can then wrap them around the stick at the campfire and hold them over the fire, turning them regularly.

Tip: As an alternative to the herb mixture, add olives, grated cheese or, as a sweet variation, chocolate drops or cinnamon-sugar. This way you can prepare your stick bread just the way you like it!

Or skewer a bockwurst on your stick first and then wrap the stick bread dough around the sausage - like a hot dog stick bread! Very tasty!
