Not only can you enjoy warm drinks such as mulled wine or mulled gin right in your own home, but also delicious Christmas snacks such as roasted almonds in the Dutch oven. They are simply part of the Christmas feeling - a very special dessert for a winter barbecue.

Preparation with briquettes Depending on the size, burn approx. 16-18 briquettes and place them all under the Dutch Oven.

Preparation

1

Place the sugar, vanilla sugar, a little cinnamon and water in the preheated Dutch oven. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and bring everything to the boil once. It is best to use a wooden spoon to stir.

2

Now add the almonds and stir vigorously so that the almonds mix with the liquid sugar mixture and the sugar does not burn.

3

Reduce the heat slightly by removing a few briquettes. The mixture should be stirred constantly and boiled down for about 10 minutes until the sugar starts to crystallise. The sugar will then harden again and look a little crumbly.

4

Reduce the heat again. This ensures that the sugar sticks better to the almonds.

5

Then lay the roasted almonds out on baking paper so that they don't stick together and can cool down.

Gebrannte Mandeln in einer Papiertüte

Try the roasted almonds recipe with other nuts too - to suit your taste. Cashews, sunflower seeds or macadamia nuts taste particularly delicious.
