Are you looking for a quick but equally tasty alternative to pulled pork? How about pulled chicken from the Dutch oven? Pulled chicken can be used to make sandwiches or burgers, as well as pulled chicken tacos.
Preparation with briquettes
Burn approx. 22-24 briquettes. Place one half under the Dutch Oven and the other half on the lid while cooking.
Preparation
1
Firstly, check whether there are any tendons or fat on the fillets and remove these. Then rinse the fillets with cold water and pat them dry with kitchen roll.
2
Now rub the fillet pieces thoroughly with the BBQ rub.
3
Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes. Wash the peppers, remove the seeds and dice them too.
4
Pour some oil into the Dutch oven and place half of the briquettes under the pan. First fry the onions with the tomato purée before adding the peppers. Season everything with salt, pepper and chilli. Then add the chopped tomatoes.
5
Next, place the rubbed chicken breast fillets in the Dutch oven on top of the vegetables and deglaze everything with the chicken stock.
6
Now it's time to wait: close the lid of the Dutch oven and place the other half of the briquettes on top. Now leave the pulled chicken to cook in the Dutch oven for around two hours. Check occasionally and stir.
7
After the cooking time, mix in the BBQ sauce. Pull the meat apart with two forks until everything is fine.
If you want to fill tacos with Dutch oven pulled chicken, get taco shells and also fill them with black beans, guacamole, peppers and sweetcorn. Grated cheese and lettuce are also a great addition.
For pulled chicken sandwiches, cut up baguettes and top them with salad, sour cream, tomato and cucumber.
