With our Dutch Oven Square, you can cook your lasagne in a classic square shape. You will need at least one more pot to prepare the bolognese and béchamel sauce. So don't forget to take extra equipment with you if you want to eat the bolognese with family and friends at the campsite.
Preparation with briquettes
Depending on the size, burn approx. 12-16 briquettes and place 2/3 of them on the lid and 1/3 under the Dutch Oven.
Preparation in the oven
To prepare in the oven, preheat the oven to 180° C fan.
Preparation
1
Firstly, prepare the Bolognese. To do this, peel the onions, garlic cloves and carrots and cut them into small cubes. Heat a little oil in a pan and first add the tomato puree with the diced ingredients.
2
Now fry the minced beef and add the beef stock with the strained tomatoes to the pan.
3
Allow the Bolognese to cook until it has thickened and then season with salt, pepper, paprika powder and oregano.
4
If you only have one pot with you at the campsite, pour the bolognese into another container and clean it briefly to prepare the béchamel sauce. Otherwise, simply use a new pot.
5
Melt the butter in the pan and slowly add the flour while stirring vigorously with a whisk. Gradually add the cold milk and make sure that all the lumps of flour are mixed in. Make sure that the butter is not too hot at the beginning and burns. Stir until the béchamel sauce has thickened and season with salt, pepper and a little nutmeg.
6
Now it's time for the layering: Start with the Bolognese, add some béchamel sauce on top and then cover both sauces with lasagne sheets. Repeat this process until you have used up all your ingredients. The lasagne should end with a layer of béchamel sauce.
7
Now add the grated cheese to the lasagne. If you are preparing the Dutch oven lasagne outside with briquettes, put the lid on and 2/3 of the preheated briquettes on the lid and 1/3 under the pan. Otherwise, place the lasagne in the preheated oven. The baking time takes about 45 minutes.
Simply replace the minced beef with veggie mince for a vegetarian lasagne. Alternatively, fry some vegetables such as mushrooms, courgettes, peppers or aubergine and continue as described.
